Most Reverend Archbishop Paul Antaki, Titular Bishop of Nubia, Patriarchal Vicar for Egypt and Sudan, was born in Cairo in 1927. After passing both the French and Egyptian Baccalaureates, he did his theological studies at St. Anne’s Seminary, Jerusalem. He was ordained Priest on July 2, 1950. He was a Pastor of a parish in Alexandria from 1951 to 1954, then Director of the Patriarchal College of Cairo from 1954 to 1957. He was the secretary to the Patriarchate of Alexandria from 1957 to 1960 and Patriarchal Vicar at Alexandria from 1960 to 1966. In 1966 he was appointed Superior of the Junior seminary of Rayak, until his Episcopal ordination on December 1, 1968. He was ordained, in the Cathedral of Beirut, by His Beatitude Maximos V Hakim assisted by Archbishop Elias Zoghby and Archbishop Tawil on December 1, 2968.
