Trisagion

Three + Holy or thrice-holy hymn
One of the most ancient
hymns of the church. As a general rule the regular Trisagion, "Holy is God!
" is to be sung during every prayer or service.
In the days of Baptism, in the old
days, " All You who have been baptized into Christ, ..." replaced the Trisagion.
Today this is done 19 times during the year:
- (1) The day of the Nativity of Our
Lord.
- (1) The second day of the Nativity of
Our Lord if not on Sunday.
- (1) The Leave-taking of the Nativity
of Our Lord if not on Sunday.
- (1) The second day of the Theophany of
Our Lord if not on Sunday.
- (1) The Leave-taking of the Theophany
of Our Lord if not on Sunday.
- (1) Saturday of Lazarus
- (1) Holy Saturday
- (1) The day of the Resurrection of Our
Lord.
- (6) Monday to Saturday of the New
Week.
- (1) Leave-taking of the Resurrection
of Our Lord.
- (1) The day of the Pentecost.
- (1) The second day of Pentecost.
- (1) The Leave-taking of Pentecost.
For the solemnity of the Holy Cross
the Trisagion is replaced by "To your Cross, we bow down in worship,
" 4
times during the year:
- (1) The third Sunday of Lent.
- (1) August 1
- (1) September 14
- (1) September 21
