Kinonikon
A
Communion hymn taken from Sacred Scripture.
Basic
Rules:
The
first, second, third, and fourth class Feasts have their own Kinonikon, as well
as, the Leave-taking of the first and second class Feasts.
With
the occurrence of a second or third class Feast or a Leave-taking of a first or
second class Feast with Sunday, the Kinonikon of the Feast can be added to the
Sunday's Kinonikon.
At any
other time, the Kinonikon is the daily Kinonikon per the following schedule:
- On
Sunday, Paramony of the Nativity of Our Lord, and the Paramony of the
Theophany the Kinonikon is in honor of the Resurrection - "Praise the
Lord, praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise Him in the highest.
Alleluia".
- On
Monday and on the Feast of Angels in honor of the angels - "You make
your angels like winds and your ministers like blazing fires.
Alleluia".
- On
Tuesday and on the Feast of Martyrs and of John the Baptist - "The just
man shall be remembered for ever. and bad report he shall not fear.
Alleluia".
- On
Wednesday and in honor of the Feasts of the Mother of God - "I will
take the chalice of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.
Alleluia".
- On
Thursday and in honor of the apostles - "Their voice has gone forth
over the whole world, over the whole world and their words to the limits of
the universe. Alleluia".
- On
Friday in honor of the precious cross - "A Christ God, you brought
about salvation in the midst of the earth, in the midst of the earth.
Alleluia"
- On
Saturday and in honor of the faithfully departed - "Blessed are those
you chose and brought to dwell in your courts, O Lord. Alleluia".
