Epistle (Apostolos)

The Epistle Book is divided into three parts. The first part holds the Epistles for the period of the Resurrection Season, the Pentecost Season, and the Triodion Season. The second part carries the Epistles for the Feasts of the Menaion. The third part holds Epistles for different occasions.

Basic Rules:

Saturday and Sunday preceding and following the following Feasts:

  1. Exaltation of the holy Cross
  2. Nativity of Our Lord
  3. Theophany of Our Lord

Sundays falling between the following dates:

  1. October 11 and 17
  2. December 11 and 17
  3. July 13 and 19

Number of Sundays between the Sunday following the Theophany of Our Lord and the Triodion:

  1. One Sunday: 33rd. After Pentecost
  2. Two Sundays: 29th and 32nd After Pentecost
  3. Three Sundays: 29th, 32nd, and 17th After Pentecost
  4. Four Sundays: 29th, 31st, 32nd, and 17th After Pentecost
